Teamwork?

It almost looks like they were doing this on purpose...

Southeastway Park Circiut Results

No bueno. There really isn't much to write about this week. This past Sunday's Southeastway Park Circuit Race was pretty disappointing. Steve and Dustin showed up to find pretty sparse fields. Brad donated his TWO entry fees. I don't know if it was the heat, or if everyone was saving it for next weekend, or if Planet Adventure has just turned riders off due to earlier problems with results and choosing not to pay out most fields. Whatever the reason, lets just say there was plent of parking available Sunday.

Embarassingly, a rider from Nebo Ridge lapped the field in the 3's race. The field let him get about 30 seconds out on a 0.6 mile circuit and then nobody would organize to chase, in spite of four teams having two or more riders in the race. Steve showed up to a field of less than ten. I guess it was at least a good hour of training.

Bring your "A" game this weekend boys. And lets pull it together and get some riders out to the ZIPP West Clay Classic and the Indy Downtown Crit.

Indy Summer Crit Craziness

The end of the 2010 road season goes out with a bang this month. Each of the next four weekends feature at least one local criterium. This is a big opportunity for Team Indiebike to leave a lasting impression and not to leave anything on the table. We already have a large contingent of riders registered for Mass Ave on 8/14. Lets make sure we have a similar presence at the rest of the races as well. We want potential sponsors, promoters and our competition to remember Team Indiebike this year for being well represented and for always being a threat for victory. We started the season strong now lets finish it on top as well.

Schedule
8/8 Southeastway Park Crit
8/14 New Belgium Mass Ave Crit Championships
8/15 ZIPP Village of West Clay Crit
8/21 Downtown Indy Crit
8/28 Hummel Park Crit

Lawrence Crit Results

Lawrence Criterium Results

In a word, bueno. Team Indiebike.com p/b OrthoIndy had a great showing this weekend in both numbers and results. A total of 9 riders competed in the Masters, 4/5 and 3s events on Sunday. The course was great, definately not a "parking lot" crit as it was announced by an opposing promoter. The venue was spectacular and we hope this race continues in the future.

The team definately showed up ready to race. Steve came away with another top 5 in the masters field. Dustin made the podium in 3rd in the Cat3 race with Jeff Laux making it into the top 5 as well. And the big news of the day, Brad S. gets his first big win as he and Justin Y. went 1-2 in the 4/5 race. Dave C. made Indiebike's presence know by adding a third rider to the top 5. Brad has been knocking on the door the past several weeks with several top 5 and podium finishes and today he finally broke through. Big thanks goes to Ryan E. as well for sacrificing himself with two laps to go to bring a late break back and keep the field strung out for Brad and Justin to be able to sprint for victory.

Its a Girl!

Team Indiebike.com wants to congratulate Ryan E. on the latest addition to the family. She arrived Friday, July 30, weighing 900g, and measuring 54cm.

While many of us spend our weekends in the middle of the summer racing local crits a few members of our team are stretching their abilities and pushing themselves to the limit on some of the toughest and many times most beautiful bike routes in the country. Tim W. and John H. have tackled rides like Assault on Mt. Mitchell, The ICEMAN Cometh and Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day (RAMROD). On August 14th they will once again put themselves to the test in what may be their toughest challenge yet. Tim and John will head to Colorado to race the Leadville 100, a race with such a reputation that Lance Armstrong couldn't resist the challenge.

Tim and John don't take an event like this lightly. They have both been committed to training and preparation. John proved he has the endurance by finishing with the lead group at this year's RAIN ride in 6:33. Tim recently completed RAMROD which includes more than 10,000 feet of climbing over 160mi. Knowing that there will be less oxygen available in the Mountains of Colorado each man has planned accordingly. John heads out this week to spend ten days at altitude allowing his body to acclimate. Tim's schedule doesn't allow for the extended stay so he is simulating the mountain air by sleeping in an altitude tent.

With the commitment and determination that these two hard men exhibit I have no doubt that they will show up to Leadville prepared and return with stories of success. Good luck guys. Thanks for the inspiration.
